The dry gas seal working principle involves dry gas seals creating a controlled gas film between two machined and pre-loaded seal faces on a rotating shaft. As the shaft rotates, the specially-grooved rotating ring uses the velocity of the rotor to create an upward lifting force against the lower seal face. The difference in the gas and liquid pressure acts as a cushion to provide a non-contact seal of clean seal gas between the rotating ring and the seal faces.
