The Plan 52 seal is a non-pressurized type of mechanical seal support system intended for use with tandem seals. This type of seal support relies upon a buffer fluid, at or near atmospheric pressure, to isolate minor leakage of fluid from the process side of the mechanical seal assembly. The Plan 52 seal does not attempt to eliminate all leakage but will provide a controlled environment in which to monitor and contain the leakage.
